I am thankful for our new website joplinhelpshaiti.com. Joplin has been helping Haiti since the early 70’s. I was a student at OCC with Etienne Prophete, Director of HCM. Suzette and I attended Park Plaza Christian Church with Etienne and his wife, Betty. Many groups and individuals helped us start Haitian Christian Mission in 1974 on a budget of $300 monthly sent with Etienne and Betty as they returned to Haiti to begin their ministry. Last year HCM raised over one million dollars for the work in Haiti (hcmsupport.org). There’s not a way to thank all the wonderful churches and individuals, who through the years, have given monetary support or have gone with a team to build, paint, preach, teach, or practice medicine. If we could hear from these individuals we would hear testimonies of how great it is to go and give and give and then to get so much more in return! Some of those Haitian travelers you may know: Sid Davis - Contractor, Tim Chambers - Pastor, Auddie Dennis - Business Owner, Richard Scott - CPA, Wally Kennedy - Journalist, Pam Sauer - Women‘s Ministry, Ed Hahn - Chaplain, Fred Wheeler - Doctor, Doris Carson and Susan Eck - Nurses, just to name a very few. Medical teams have gone from the Community Clinic and our hospitals, putting together tons of medical supplies, food, and clothing. Young students have gone to serve and come back with a view of third world living and how those who struggle still have an enormous amount of faith and joy. Everyone is blessed. Sincerely,
